Dr. Colleen Karr, PT, DPT, COMT, OCS, CCI and owner, developed this practice to be based on evaluating not only the patient's condition, but what led to the condition in the first place.
Due to this approach, Colleen's success rate in helping patients far exceeds many of her peers.
Dr. Karr received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in 1987. She later received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the College of Saint Scholastica in Minnesota.
She has 28 years of experience as a manual (hands-on) physical therapist, and in 2005 she earned her specialty certification in Maitland Manual Therapy for the Spine and Extremities (COMT). She is also a board certified orthopedic specialist (OCS).
Due to her expertise in manual therapy, she has served as a clinical instructor for several doctoral physical therapy programs, including ECU, Duke, UNC and Howard University. She is an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor (CCI).
Colleen has worked with all types of patients, including professional dancers, skaters, athletes and stunt performers. She has served backstage for several productions, including A Chorus Line and Marvel Universe Live. She is the proud PT and sponsor of our wonderful Cape Fear Blackhearts-- Wilmington's roller girls. In the short time she has been in Wilmington she has already helped local athletes at the middle school, high school, college and professional level get back to their game.
Colleen is well respected amongst the medical community, and several of her patients are physical therapists, surgeons and doctors seeking her help and expertise, especially in spine injuries with radicular symptoms.
Colleen treats every patient as a new adventure with the ultimate goal of making them pain free and prides herself in her success rate in doing so.
Colleen is so happy to now be full time in the city she loves at Premier Physical Therapy, Wilmington.
